Almost opposite the airport, this sprawling place was once the poshest hotel in town, but it's showing its age these days. Nevertheless, rooms are bright and well-appointed and there's a gloriously chintzy bar, backed by a mural of Bhairab's teeth.
The New Hotel Crystal feels endearingly lost in time, harking back to a 1970s heyday when Pokhara was full of well-heeled jet-setters heading off for all-expenses-paid treks to the hills. It isn't looking quite as smart these days, but the facilities are still impressive and the hotel has a charming, if dated, ambience.
Rooms are simple but well-appointed, with TVs, fridges and big marble bathrooms, and there are lots of staff in faded uniforms to take care of room service. The front lawn has good mountain views, but it's just as fun to pull up a red velour barstool in the joyously chintzy hotel bar. The hotel also has a restaurant and on-site souvenir shop. You can't fault the location - it's right across the road from the airport and five minutes' walk from the public and tourist bus stands.
